Our newest resource to help you plant earth-friendly landscaping, “Water-Wise Landscaping with Desert Native Plants”, showcases 62 attractive native plants that are drought-tolerant and that are available at southland nurseries that carry California native plants. This handy guide folds up to a convenient 9”x 4” size to take to your local nursery to assist you in buying or ordering the perfect native plants for your yard, and unfolds to 23” x 18” to display photos and important gardening information for each plant. Original photos show both the flowers and the whole plant as they look in garden settings. We hope this guide encourages more people to join the “native plant movement”.
This guide can also be taken into the field to help identify many of the native perennial (longer-lived) plants that grow across southern California’s diverse deserts. Plants showcased in this guide are native to either Southern California’s Mojave Desert (above about 2,500 feet in elevation), or to its lower Colorado Desert (below about 2,500 feet elevation), but in most cases, these plants are native to both deserts.
