Only 25 miles from Southern California’s busy coastline, at the edge of the deep ocean, is one of the most isolated, unique, and beautiful island chains in the world. The Channel Islands contain a stunning biological diversity of species, 145 of which are found nowhere else on earth.
Visiting these islands is like stepping back in time to a native California of hundreds to thousands of years ago.
We invite you to journey with us to these magnificent islands. Aboard ship, we will be surrounded by abundant and diverse ocean life that includes whales, dolphins, seals, and a variety of colorful fish. Whether walking on pristine beaches, kayaking in beautiful coves, snorkeling, stand-up paddling, or hiking on trails used by the Chumash Indians, you will be transported into another world.
The adventure begins aboard the Vision, our comfortable 85-foot vessel which serves as our home base as we explore Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, and San Miguel Islands. Our background in marine life, botany, birds, water sports, and island and natural history will help you make the most of each day and will deepen your appreciation of island life and ultimately our planet.
Our four-day, four-night adventure starts in Santa Barbara Harbor where we board the Vision the night before we sail. By breakfast we will be on our way to the Islands, with detours along the way to encounter whales, dolphins, and other sea life.
Whether you picture yourself cruising for whales on the backside of the Islands, snorkeling in a quiet cove, or watching the sun set over an Island arc, our experienced naturalists will help you become one of the few who get to experience all that these unique islands have to offer.
Our next adventure is September 18 – 21, 2019. We board our vessel in Santa Barbara Harbor after 8 pm the night before our adventure begins, on the eve of September 17th. We embark on our adventure during the evening hours while you sleep in our pullman-style sleeping bunks, so you awake to a beautiful sunrise over the islands, and a hot breakfast made to order.
